Summer Work Program

The Riley Foundation is sponsoring a summer work program as one way to help Lauderdale County nonprofit organizations serve their clients.

The program will:

  • Help college students obtain knowledge of nonprofit organizations.
  • Expose students to careers in the nonprofit area.
  • Provide organizations with the resources needed to complete a specific project.

About the Program

  • Organizations may apply for a grant to hire a college student to complete a specific project.
  • Students will receive a salary of $3000 for 8 weeks of work.
  • Supplementary funds for materials may be available.
  • Agency staff time will not be considered.
  • Each project should have a clear purpose, objective and timetable.  Also, a method in which the project can be accomplished in the 8 week timetable.
  • Examples:  assembling market data, measuring client satisfaction, developing new services, making videos, creating newsletters, websites.
  • Does not apply to:  regular ongoing activities that are a part of everyday operations of the organization, i.e. data entry, secretarial tasks.
  • Information about the program will be sent to all colleges and university in Mississippi.
